Other Peoples Chairs

What is a chair? A Place to sit, kick your shoes off or rest maybe? I have taken photos over the years of chairs in the wild, benches at the beach, Adirondacks in someone’s yard and a few inside. Chairs are relaxing to me. Even the broken ones.

This book is a photo collection with quotes from friends, stories from my life and inspiration.

Sunrise

New London, Connecticut

A row of white chairs leans gently toward the water, all facing the hushed beginning of the day. The sun lifts itself just above the horizon, pale and steady, washing the sky in soft blue and warm peach.

The grass beneath the chairs is cool and dark, holding onto the night a little longer. The day eases in slowly. These chairs aren’t arranged for conversation, but for witness.

They face forward, ready for the day before it speaks. This is a place for first light, for breath held and then released, for mornings that arrive without asking anything of you yet.
